எச்சரிக்கை: இந்தியாவின் உட்பகை (enemy within)

"உறுதியான சட்டங்கள், தேர்ந்த உளவுத்துறை, அதிநவீன பாதுக்காப்பு சாதனங்கள் இவை மட்டுமே ஜிகாதிகள், நக்சலைட்டுகள், மற்ற பிரிவினைவாதிகளுடனான போரில் நமக்கு வெற்றி தேடித் தராது.. தேசவிரோதிகளுக்காகக் கச்சை கட்டிக்கொண்டு பேசவரும் இத்தகைய உட்பகைகளையும் நாம் எதிர்கொள்ளவேண்டும். பயங்கரவாதத்தால் பாதிக்கப் படுபவர்களுக்குப் பதிலாக, பயங்கரச் செயலை நிகழ்த்தியவர்களின் பாதுகாப்பையும், நலனையும் முன்நிறுத்தும் இந்த இழிவான மனநிலை, அதன் பிரதிநிதிகள் இந்த விரோதிகளுடன் போரிட்டு முதலில் நாம் வெல்ல வேண்டும்" என்கிறார் பயனியர் ஆசிரியர் சந்தன் மித்ரா.

From Jaipur to Raipur and beyond, India is under a siege within. While the political class has predictably fulminated against Pakistan and Bangladesh, the fact is that every heinous crime against the people of India has been committed by Indians, even if funded and trained by outside forces.

For the ordinary citizen it comes as no solace to learn that something called HuJI has replaced LeT or JeM as the new face of terror in India. For the victims of terror, the jihadi terrorist remains an elusive, sinister figure irrespective of nomenclature. Periodically we are told that these shadowy organisations receive logistic support from yet another dangerous outfit, SIMI (or is it now called SIM?). Whether it is the Students' Islamic Movement that acts as the liaison agency for the executors of bomb blasts, it is quite inconsequential to the public at large. Jihadi terrorists have demonstrated their ability to strategise precisely, plan meticulously, strike at will and massacre innocents at destinations chosen by them. Every year India has reeled under three or more major terrorist outrages and just when complacency sets in, jihadis strike yet another deadly blow.

Where does Raipur fit in this scheme? Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar and parts of Maharashtra and Karnataka have similarly been reeling under successive waves of terror of another kind. Although there is no concrete evidence yet of links between jihadis and Maoists, they share a common aim -- destabilisation of the Indian nation. The green flag of Islamic jihad and red pennant of Naxalites are fluttering virtually all over the country even if they have carved out separate areas of operation, the former focusing more on big cities and the latter on interior villages. The numbers decimated by Maoist marauders is probably no less than those felled by terrorist depredations. In vast stretches of the Indian heartland, the writ of the Government either does not run at all or runs cursorily only between dawn and dusk. Just as the jihadi terrorists are working in coordination with, or at the behest of, foreign powers and global terror outfits like Al Qaeda, Maoists in India too have a central command, swear allegiance to a foreign ideology and, after the tragic legitimisation of ultra-Left rule through elections in Nepal, will work in even greater concert with a neighbouring country's Government.

The similarity does not end there. Both jihadis and Maoists thrive on the back-up support of an army of secular fundamentalists and bleeding-heart intellectuals in India. These fifth columnists hold opinion makers in this country in an octopus-like grip, and are perpetually busy generating sympathy for the mass murderers. While every attempt by the state to act decisively against both jihadis and Naxalites is greeted with howls of protest, law-enforcement agencies are continuously berated and sought to be systematically demoralised. The self-styled cheerleaders of liberalism oppose the demand to bring back POTA or enact similar State laws needed to act aggressively against terror merchants.

Further, they are at the forefront of vicious campaigns against conscientious security personnel for their alleged excesses and so-called violation of human rights. One only has to recall their frenzied attempts to put Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on the mat for defending his police in the encounter that led to the fully justified liquidation of jihadi operatives such as teenage terror courier Ishrat Jahan. The subversive section of the Indian intelligentsia went almost berserk over the alleged crimes of VG Vanzara, the Gujarat police officer who eliminated terrorist Sohrabuddin. These effete intellectuals have been out to prove that the Government itself plotted the December 13 attack on Parliament and Afzal Guru is an innocent, honourable man who must be saved from the gallows irrespective of judicial verdicts. The India-baiters inevitably succeed because we are unfortunate enough to have a Prime Minister who confesses he could not sleep for nights without end worrying about the fate of an Indian-origin Glasgow airport bombing suspect detained briefly in Australia, although the same Prime Minister has shown no such concern for the thousands of his fellow-countrymen who die gruesome deaths at the hands of jihadis and Maoists.

Not surprisingly, closet sympathisers of India's destabilisation have now mounted a campaign to allow Naxalite intellectual Dr Binayak Sen to travel to Washington to personally collect something called the Jonathan Mann award from an organisation that describes itself as the Global Health Council. Apparently he is to be honoured for his "spectacular and pioneering" work among tribals of Chhattisgarh and also for "exposing" the "Government-backed vigilante group, Salwa Judum". It is remarkable how a Washington-based organisation came to know about Dr Sen's "spectacular" work when nobody in India (except Maoists and their frontal organisations) had heard of him, at least till he was caught smuggling vital correspondence to a Naxalite leader in detention, under the garb of attending to his medical condition. Moreover, the Goebblessian propaganda that Salwa Judum is a vigilante group, whereas it is an unarmed people's movement against Naxalites, has actually got embedded even in intelligent people's minds through sheer repetition. Although various agitations planned on the dubious doctor's behalf by Maoists and their fellow-travellers have not quite taken off despite high voltage publicity on websites, it would be naïve to rule out a crescendo of support as May 29, the date on which the award is to be conferred, comes closer.

Remarkably, Indian subversives have a huge international network, which includes various separatist outfits, Christian missionary groups and busybody NGOs. I recall being confronted by an earnest young Tamilian Christian student at Berkeley last August demanding my intervention as MP with the "fascist, communal" Chhattisgarh Government for Dr Sen, whose name I first heard at that seminar. Taken aback, I checked up with friends at home about the activist-doctor's antecedents that night and sparred with his misguided young supporters in the US thereafter. I have no doubt that India's terror network thrives because of such people. I even came across an article titled "India: No country for good men" detailing the Government's apparently disgraceful human rights record and condemning the "systematic crackdown" on dissenters in this country. If India were not mentioned a few times, anybody would have thought it was a write-up on the excesses of the Burmese military junta! Needless to add, the internet article was written by an Indian!

Thus, the siege within is much more pervasive than it appears at first sight. While the country needs more stringent anti-terror laws, better intelligence, superior equipment for security forces and other paraphernalia for combating jihadi, Maoist and separatist terror, apart from draconian measures to stop infiltration from Bangladesh, the war against the enemy within cannot be won by laws alone.

Till such time as we agree that "terrorism in all its manifestations" includes mindset that in effect protect and promote the cause of the perpetrators of terror rather than those of its victims, I am afraid the war can never be decisively won.

It appears that minister Shivraj Patil does not have a clue of even the most basic details of both the cases.

AFZAL is an *Indian* citizen, sentenced to death by the *Indian* "Supreme court" after extensive investigations and proceedings and appeals, for the crime of waging war against India by attacking the Indian parliment and killing Indian policemen on duty. He has been treated in a dignified manner in the Indian prisons for 4 years. He himself accepts the crime and asks for "sympathy" as part of his clemency petition... And remember, India is a secular, democratic country, known for its reasonably impartial Justice system.

SARABJIT is an *Indian* citizen, about to be hanged by the *Pakistani* government based on frivolous charges, after trial by just lower courts with no options for any appeal at any level, most probably in a case of mistaken identity, for one "Man singh" who was allegedly involved in some bomb blasts in Pak. He has been tortured in the Paki jails for more than 18 years... And Remember Pakistan is a rouge Islamist Jihadist state ruled by a dictatorship, with horrible record of Judiciary and of treating its own non-Mulsim minorities, particularly Hindus.

Where is the comparison, Mr. Home Minister?
Do you also mean to say that, in case if Pak. govt. gives clemency to Sarbajit, should India *free* all the Jihadi terrorists it has captured?

With a home minister like this, is there any surprise that Islamist bombs are exploding all over India and killing patriotic, innocent Indian citizens?

BJP should not just stop with calling this "nonsense". They should press for this guy to be sacked.

வீதிகளில் உடல்சிதறி மடிவது தான் இந்தியரின் விதியா?

இந்த வார ஜெய்ப்பூர் குண்டுவெடிப்புகள் தேசத்தை இன்னொரு முறை அதிர்ச்சியிலும், ஆழ்ந்த துயரத்திலும் உறைய வைத்திருக்கின்றன. சுற்றிப் பார்க்க வந்தவர்கள், அனுமன் கோயிலில் தரிசனம் செய்ய வந்தவர்கள், விளையாட வந்தவர்கள், கடைகளில் பொருள் வாங்க வந்தவர்கள், காற்று வாங்க வந்தவர்கள் என பேதம் பார்க்காமல் அப்பாவி இந்திய மக்களைக் கொன்று குவித்திருக்கின்றன தீவிரவாதிகள் வைத்த சைக்கிள் குண்டுகள். இந்த தேசம் முழுவதும் ஜெய்ப்பூரில் மடிந்தவர்களுக்காகக் கண்ணீர் வடிக்கிறது, இறந்த இந்திய ஜீவன்களுக்கு அஞ்சலி செலுத்துகிறது. எம் தேசத்தின் மைந்தர்களின் கோரப் படுகொலையும், சோகமும், இழப்பும், வேதனையும், வலியும் தொலைக்காட்சியில் காணும் போது நெஞ்சு வெடிக்கிறது.

தீவிரவாதம் பற்றி இந்திய சமூகத்தின் பொதுவான மனநிலை எப்படியிருக்கிறது? ஜெய்ப்பூர் என்கிற ஒரு சுற்றுலாத் தலத்தில், மொஃபசல் நகரில் தீவிரவாதத் தாக்குதல் நடந்திருப்பது பெரிய அதிர்ச்சி என்று ஊடகங்களில் பேசப் படுகிறது. “ஜெய்ப்பூர் இதற்கெல்லாம் பழக்கப் பட்டதேயில்லை” (Jaipur is just not used to this) என்கிறார் ஒருவர். மும்பை, தில்லி, வாரணாசி, அயோத்தி, ஹைதராபாத் இங்கெல்லாம் ஏற்கனவே குண்டுவெடுப்புகள் நடந்து விட்டன, அந்த நகரங்களில் இருப்பவர்கள் எல்லாரும் ஜிகாதிகள் கையால் சாவதற்குப் பழகிக் கொண்டு விட்டிருக்கிறார்கள் (அல்லது பழகிக் கொள்ளவேண்டும்) என்று மறைமுகமாக உணர்த்துவது போல் நிருபர்கள் பேசுகிறார்கள். தீவிரவாதத்தின் பயங்கரத்தால் இந்திய உயிர்கள் தொடர்ச்சியாக சாவது என்பது அல்ல, அது “எதிர்பாராத” ஒரு “புதிய” இடத்தில் நடந்திருக்கிறதே என்பது தான் பெரிய கவலையாக இருக்கிறது. அந்த அளவிற்கு சமூகத்தின், ஊடகங்களின் உணர்ச்சி மரத்துப் போய்விட்டிருக்கிறது.

இந்த கோரச் செயலின் பின் இருப்பவர்கள் பற்றி இம்முறை கொஞ்சம் மெதுவாகத் தான் தகவல்கள் வரத்தொடங்கியிருக்கின்றன. அதே “சிமி” இஸ்லாமிய மாணவர் அமைப்பு, அதே லஷ்கர்-ஏ-தொய்பா, அதே HUJI என்கிற ஹர்கத்-உல்-ஜிஹாதி-இஸ்லாமி. “இந்தியன் முஜாஹிதீன்” என்று ஒரு புதிய குழு புறப்பட்டிருக்கிறதாம். அதே மதரசாக்களில் படித்து மதவெறியேற்றப் பட்ட நடுத்தர வயது இளைஞர்கள். ஊர்கள், பெயர்கள், ஆட்கள் கொஞ்சம் கொஞ்சம் மாறிய அதே ஜிகாதி இஸ்லாமிஸ்ட் தீவிரவாதம். ராஜஸ்தான் காவல்துறை சந்தேத்தின் பேரில் தேடிவரும் நபர் உ.பி குண்டுவெடிப்புகளாகக் கைது செய்யப் பட்டு லக்னோவில் விசாரிக்கப் பட்டு வரும் ஒரு முன்னாள் மதரசா மாணவாரால் ஏற்கனவே கூட்டாளி என்று கூறப்பட்டவர். இவரும் சஹ்ரான்புர் மதரசாவின் முன்னாள் மாணவர் தான். இந்தூரில் இரு மாதங்கள் முன்பு கைது செய்யப் பட்ட 13 ஜிகாதிகளுடனும் தொடர்புடையவர் என்றும் கூறப் படுகிறது.

ஆனால் ஏதோ இந்த ஜிகாதி தீவிரவாதிகளுக்கு சில ஊர்கள், சில ஆட்கள் பேரில் மனஸ்தாபம் இருப்பதால் அங்கு போய் குண்டு வைத்து அப்பாவி மக்களைக் கொல்கிறார்கள் என்பது போன்ற பாமரத் தனத்துடன் இந்த செய்தி அலசப் படுகிறது. ஒன்றுக்கொன்று பின்னிப் பிணைந்துள்ள இந்த நாசவலைக் குழுக்கள் ஒட்டுமொத்த தேசத்திற்கும் எதிராக போர் தொடுக்கிறார்கள் என்ற பிரக்ஞையே இல்லை. இந்த தேசத்தின் மீதும், இதன் ஆதாரமான, ஆன்மாவான இந்து வாழ்க்கை முறைமீதும் மட்டற்ற வெறுப்புக் கொண்டு அவற்றை அழிப்பதற்குக் கங்கணம் கட்டியிருப்பவர்கள் இவர்கள் என்ற விஷயம் சொல்லப் படுவதில்லை. இந்தியாவின் எல்லா இடங்களிலும் இவர்கள் குண்டுவைக்காமலிருப்பதற்கு, அந்த அளவுக்கு ஆள், அம்பு, ஆயுதம், கட்டமைப்பு இல்லை என்ற ஒரே காரணத்தைத் தவிர வேறு ஒன்றுமில்லை என்கிற விஷயம் இன்னும் உறைக்கவில்லை. இவ்வளவு தாக்குதல்கள் நடந்தும் இந்த தேசவிரோத, தேசத்துரோக இஸ்லாமிஸ்ட், ஜிகாதி கும்பல்கள் பற்றிய ஒரு தெளிவான சித்திரத்தை ஏன் அரசும், ஊடகங்களும் மக்களுக்கு வழங்குவதில்லை?

தீவிரவாதிகளின் நோக்கம் அப்பாவி இந்தியர்களைக் கொல்வதல்ல, அதுவும் செவ்வாய்க் கிழமை அனுமன் கோவில் வாசலுக்கு வரும் இந்து பக்தர்களைக் குறிவைத்துக் கொல்வது அல்லவே அல்ல. அதன் நோக்கம் “அமைதியைக் குலைப்பது” என்று திரும்பத் திரும்பச் சொல்லப் படுகிறது. அதாவது மக்கள் உயிர்போவதைப் பற்றிக் கூடக் கவலைப் படாமல் “அமைதி” காப்பாற்றப் படவேண்டும் என அரசு விரும்புகிறது.

ஒரு குண்டுவெடிப்பு நிகழ்ந்ததும், அதில் ஏற்பட்ட மனித உயிரிழப்பின் வலியை விட, அதன் சோகத்தை விட, ஐயையோ மதக்கலவரம் வந்து விடாமல் இருக்கவேண்டுமே குண்டடி பட்டுச் செத்த மக்களின் உற்றாருக்கு, சமூகத்தினருக்குக் கோபம் வந்து ஏதும் செய்யாமலிருக்க வேண்டுமே என்ற கவலையில் ராணுவத்தை ராஜஸ்தானுக்கு அனுப்புகிறது மத்திய அரசு. ஒரு இரண்டு நாள் துக்கம் அனுஷ்டித்து விட்டு பிறகு தங்கள் உற்றாரின் கோர மரணத்தையும், அந்த நிகழ்வையும் பற்றி சுத்தமாக மறந்து விட்டு தங்கள் வேலையைப் பார்க்கப் போகும் இந்து மனப்போக்கிற்கு “மன உறுதி” (resilience) பட்டம் தவறாமல் ஊடகங்களால் வழங்கப் படுகிறது. மும்பை ரயில் குண்டுவெடிப்புக்கு மறுநாளே சோகத்திலிருந்து மீண்டெழும் அந்த நகரின் “மன உறுதி” பற்றி சிலாகிக்கப்பட்டது (ஜெய்ப்பூர் விஷயத்தில் இரண்டு நாள் தாமதமானாலும், தவறாமல் ஊடகங்கள் இந்த சடங்கை செய்துவிட்டன). ஆனால் குஜராத் கலவரங்களில் பாதிக்கப் பட்ட, மன உறுதி மிக்க முஸ்லிம்களின் “காயங்கள்” “வடுக்கள்” வலிகள்” எல்லாம் அப்படியே ஆறவைக்கப் படாமல் வருடங்கள் கழித்தும், சம்பந்தமில்லாத நேரங்களிலும் மீண்டும் மீண்டும் நினைவு படுத்தப் படும். என்னே ஊடகங்களின் நடுநிலைமை, மதச்சார்பின்மை!

இதற்கு நடுவில் அரசு இதில் பாகிஸ்தான் தலையீடு இருப்பதாக சொல்லியதை அடுத்து, ராஜஸ்தானில் சிதைகள் வெந்து முடிப்பதற்கு முன்பாகவே, அண்டை நாடுகளுடனான உறவு பற்றி சர்ச்சை ஆரம்பித்து விட்டது. ஒரு தொலைக் காட்சி சேனலில் பேசிய வெளியுறவுத்துறை நிபுணர் ஜி.பார்த்தசாரதி, “அண்டை நாடுகளை விடுங்கள். கடந்த 3-4 வருடங்களில் நடந்த எல்லா குண்டுவெடிப்புகளிலும் இந்திய ஜிகாதிகளின் பங்கு தெளிவாக உறுதிசெய்யப் பட்டிருக்கிறது. நாம் அவர்களுக்கு என்ன தண்டனை வழங்கினோம்? இஸ்லாமிஸ்ட் ஜிகாதி தீவிரவாதத்தால் நம்மை விட மிகக் குறைவாக உயிர்களை இழந்த யு.எஸ், யு.கே, ஆஸ்திரேலியா மற்றும் ஐரோப்பிய நாடுகள் இந்தியாவுடன் ஒப்பிடுகையில் மிகமிகக் கடுமையான தீவிரவாத எதிர்ப்புச் சட்டங்களை இயற்றியிருக்கின்றன, குற்றவாளிகளைத் தண்டிக்கின்றன. தீவிரவாதத்தை ஒடுக்க என்று தனிப் படைகளையே அமைத்திருக்கின்றன. இது ஒன்றையுமே செய்யாத நாம் புலம்புவதில் என்ன அர்த்தம் இருக்கிறது?” என்று கேட்டார். மிக நியாயமான கேள்வி.

சமீபத்திய குண்டுவெடிப்புகள் அனைத்திலும், பங்களாதேஷ் நாட்டை மையமாகக் கொண்டு இயங்கும் ஹுஜி அமைப்பின் பெயர் முக்கியமாக அடிபடுகிறது. சிட்டகாங் மற்றும் இன்னும் சில நகரங்களில் ஜிகாதி தீவிரவாத முகாம்கள் இயங்குவதை இந்திய அரசே உறுதி செய்திருக்கிறது. இந்தியாவால் உருவாக்கப் பட்ட இந்த சிறிய நாடு இப்போதைய முக்கியமான ஜிகாதி தயாரிப்பு தொழிற்சாலைகளில் ஒன்று. இது போக பங்களாதேஷ் எல்லைப் புற ஊடுருவல் மூலமும், ஆயிரக் கணக்கான திரைமறைவு ஜிகாதிகள் ஏற்கனவே இந்தியாவின் பல நகரங்களில் மையம் கொண்டுள்ளனர். ஜெய்ப்பூர் குண்டுவெடிப்புகளில் இவர்கள் சிலரின் பங்கும் உள்ளதாகக் கூறப் படுகிறது. இவ்வளவு ஆதாரங்கள் இருக்கும்போது ஏன் இந்தியா விமானத் தாக்குதல் நடத்தி பங்களாதேஷில் உள்ள தீவிரவாத முகாம்களை அழிக்கக் கூடாது? ஆற்றாமையுடன் நண்பர் ஒருவர் சொன்னார்: "Sword Fish என்ற படத்தில் ஜான் ட்ரவோல்டாவின் வசனத்தை இங்கே நினைவுகூர்கிறேன் - அவர்கள் இங்கே ஒரு விமானத்தை கடத்தினால் அங்கெ சில விமான நிலையங்கள் அழியவேண்டும். அவர்கள் இங்கே இரண்டு கட்டிடங்களை அழித்தால் நாம் அங்கே சில நகரங்களை அழிக்கவேண்டும்"
ஆப்கானிஸ்தானுக்குள் புகுந்து அழித்த அமெரிக்கப் படைகள் தாலிபான்களைத் துரத்தி அழித்ததையும், 2002ல் நடந்த 9/11 தாக்குதல்களுக்குப் பிறகு அமெரிக்க மண்ணில் இன்றுவரை ஒரு தீவிரவாதத் தாக்குதல் கூட நடக்கவிலை என்பதையும் எண்ணிப் பார்க்க வேண்டும்.

உளவுத்துறை மற்றும் பாதுகாப்பு அமைப்புகளின் ரேடார் திரையில் இல்லாத “மென்மையான இலக்கு”களை (soft targets) ஏன் தீவிரவாதிகள் தாக்குகிறார்கள் என்று பரிதாபமாகக் கேட்கிறார்கள். தீவிரவாதிகள் என்ன கேனையர்களா? இத்தகைய இலக்குகள் மீது தேர்ந்தெடுத்து அடிக்கடி தாக்குதல் நடத்துவது அவர்களுக்கு மிஅக் சாதகமான விஷயம் என்கிறார் பாதுகாப்பு நிபுணரும், ஓய்வுபெற்ற “ரா” அதிகாரியுமான பி.ராமன். சிறு நகரங்களில், குறைந்த அளவு ஜிகாதிகளை வைத்து எளிதாக ஒரு குழுவை உருவாக்கி செயல்படுத்துவது மிக எளிது. இந்தியா முழுக்க வர்த்தகம், சுற்றுலா, கல்வி இவற்றுக்குப் பெயர்போன பல சிறு நகரங்கள் உள்ளன என்பதால் இத்தகைய தாக்குதல் விளைவிக்கும் சமூக, பொருளாதார அதிர்ச்சிகளும் கடுமையாகவே இருக்கும்.




எனவே அரசு மிக உறுதியான நடவடிக்கை எடுக்காவிட்டால், உடுமலைப் பேட்டையிலும், உடுப்பியிலும், குண்டூரிலும், நாசிக்கிலும் என எதிர்பாராத இடங்களில் எல்லாம் ஜிகாதிகள் தாக்குதல் நடத்தப் போவது உறுதி. மக்களின் உயிருக்கு உத்தரவாதம் தராத அரசு நீடிப்பதில் அர்த்தமில்லை, அது அகற்றப் படவேண்டும்.

வரும் தேர்தலில் ஜிகாதி தீவிரவாதம் தான் இந்தியாவின் தலையாய பிரசினையாக இருக்கவேண்டும். இருக்குமா? ஜிகாதிகளுக்கு நேர்முக, மறைமுக ஆதரவு அளிக்கும் அரசியல் கட்சிகள் மக்களால் கடுமையாகத் தண்டிக்கப் படுமா? அல்லது வீதிகளில் உடல்சிதறி மடிவது தான் இந்தியரின் விதியா?

அத்வானி, சானியா அச்சுறுத்தல்கள்: நம் அடிப்படை உரிமைகளுக்கு விடப்பட்டுள்ள சவால்

இந்த வாரம் இந்தியாவின் அடிப்படை ஜனநாயக உரிமைகளுக்கும், சுதந்திரத்திற்கும் இரண்டு பெரிய அச்சுறுத்தல்கள் வந்திருக்கின்றன.

பா.ஜ.க தலைவர் அத்வானி உள்நாட்டு பாதுகாப்பு, தீவிரவாதத்தை நேர்கொள்வதில் இப்போதைய அரசின் தோல்விகள் இவற்றை முன்னிறுத்தி நாடு முழுவதும் 13 இடங்களில் பேரணிகள் நடத்தப் போவதாக அறிவித்திருந்தார். இந்நிலையில் தாவூத் இப்ராகிம் உள்ளிட்ட இஸ்லாமிய தீவிரவாதிகளிடமிருந்து தற்கொலைப் படைத் தாக்குதல்கள் உள்ளிட்ட பல விதங்களிலும் அவரது உயிருக்கும், குஜராத் முதல்வர் நரேந்திர மோடி உயிருக்கும் ஆபத்து இருப்பதாக தேசிய பாதுகாப்பு ஆலோசகர் நாராயணன் அறிவித்தார். இது வழக்கமான எச்சரிக்கை மட்டுமல்ல, உளவுத்துறையால் உறுதி செய்யப்பட்ட தகவல் என்பதால் பா.ஜக இந்தப் பேரணிகளை தீவிர மறுபரிசீலனை செய்யவேண்டும், தேவைப்பட்டால் ரத்து செய்யவும் வேண்டும் என்று எடுத்துரைக்கப் பட்டது. மோடி மற்றும் அத்வானிக்கு அளிக்கப் படும் பாதுகாப்பு ஏற்பாடுகள் பலப்படுத்தப் படும் என்றும் செய்திகள் கூறுகின்றன.

அரசுத்துறையின் தகவல்கள் உண்மையாகவே இருக்க வேண்டும். பாஜக பேரணியை மத்திய அரசு குலைக்கப் பார்க்கிறது என்று சில கட்சித் தலைகள் பேசும் அற்ப அரசியலை ஒதுக்கி விடலாம். ஆனால் இதன் மூலம் அத்வானி மேற்கொண்டிருக்கும் பிரசாரம் எந்த அளவுக்கு அத்தியாவசியமானது, உண்மையானது என்பது நிரூபிக்கப் பட்டு விட்டது. இந்த தேசத்தின் இறையாண்மை, சுதந்திரம், முன்னேற்றம் இவற்றின் மீது விடாமல் போர்தொடுத்து வரும் ஜிகாதி தீவிரவாதத்தை எதிர்த்து பிரசாரம் செய்வது என்பதே அபாயகரமான செயலாக ஆகிவிட்டிருக்கிறது. அதுவும், நாட்டின் எதிர்க்கட்சித் தலைவருக்கே இந்த நிலைமை என்றால் சாதாரண மக்கள் என்ன செய்ய முடியும்?

முட்டாள் தனத்திற்காக ஒரு சாராரால் கேலிசெய்யப் பட்டாலும் “நாம் அவர்களை சாம்பலாக்குவோம்” (We will smoke ‘em out) என்று தீவிரவாதிகளுக்கு முஷ்டியை மடக்கிக் காட்டி அதைச் செய்தும் காட்டும் கௌபாய் ஜார்ஜ் புஷ் போன்ற துணிவும், உறுதியும் வாய்ந்த அரசியல் தலைமை நமக்கு வாய்க்கவில்லை தான். அதற்காக விதியை நொந்துகொள்வோம். ஆனால் இந்த பலகட்சி, பல கொள்கை ஜனநாயக நாட்டில், ஜிகாதி தீவிரவாதத்தைப் பற்றிய விழிப்புணர்ச்சியை மக்களிடையே உண்டாக்கி, அதை ஒரு அரசியல், தேர்தல் பிரசினையாக்குவதற்குக் கூட முதல் கட்டத்திலேயே முட்டுக்கட்டை போடும் அளவுக்கு இந்த தீவிரவாத வலைப்பின்னலின் ஊடுருவல் இருக்கிறது என்பது வெட்கக் கேடான விஷயம்.

இந்திய விளையாட்டு ரசிகர்கள் ஆவலுடன் எதிர்பார்த்திருந்த “பெங்களூர் ஓபன்” போட்டிகளில் விளையாடப் போவதில்லை என்று டென்னிஸ் இளம்புயல் சானியா மிர்சா அறிவித்து ஒரு பெரிய குண்டைப் போட்டிருக்கிறார். இது மட்டுமல்ல, இனிமேல் இந்தியாவுக்காக வெளிநாடுகளில் விளையாடுவேன், இந்தியாவில் எங்குமே தைரியமாக விளையாடுவதற்கான சூழல் இல்லை என்றும் கூறியிருக்கிறார்.

டென்னிஸ் வீராங்கனைகளுக்கே உரிய கச்சிதமான பாவாடையை அவர் அணிவது இஸ்லாமுக்கு எதிரானது என்று லக்னோவிலிருந்து லாலாபேட்டை வரை ஒரு முல்லா, மௌல்வி விடாமல் பிரசாரம் செய்து முடித்தாயிற்று. இந்த “ஹராமை” அவர் தொடர்ந்து செய்து வருவதற்கு எதிராக பல ஃபத்வாக்களும் விடப் பட்டிருக்கின்றன. அவர் போகுமிடங்களில் எல்லாம் இது பற்றிக் கேள்விகள் கேட்கப் பட்டு அவரை சங்கடத்திலும், அசௌகரியத்திலும் ஆழ்த்துகிறார்கள். இது போதாதென்று ஹைதராபத் மசூதி ஒன்றின் பின்னணியில் அவர் ஒரு விளம்பரப் படத்தில் நடித்தார் என்பதற்காக அவர் மீது வழக்குகள், மிரட்டல்கள். (அந்தப் புகைப் படத்தைப் பார்த்தால் அதில் மசூதி எங்கோ தூரத்தில் இருக்கிறது - அதற்கே இந்தக் கூப்பாடு). இந்த முரடர்கள் விளையாட்டு மைதானத்தில் வந்து ஏதாவது பைப் குண்டுகளை வீசி எறிந்து விட்டால் என்ன செய்வது என்று சானியா உண்மையிலேயே கவலைப் படுவதாகத் தெரிகிறது.

இத்தனைக்கும் சாதாரண முஸ்லீம்கள் சானியா போன்று ஒரு துடிப்பான, அழகான விளையாட்டு வீராங்கனையை தங்கள் ‘icon” ஆக நினைப்பதில் பெருமைப் படுகிறார்கள். பல முஸ்லீம் கடைகள், வாகனங்கள், நிறுவனங்களில் அவரது குறுகுறு எழில்முகத்தை ப்ளோ அப்களில் பார்க்கிறேன். இத்தகைய வெகுஜன அங்கீகரித்தல்கள் தரும் தைரியத்தை விட சில முட்டாள் முல்லாக்களின் பயமுறுத்தல்களும், அவற்றை நிறைவேற்றும் தீவிரவாத குழுக்களும் ஒரு உலகத்தரம் வாய்ந்த வீராங்கனையை முடக்கிப் போடும், நசுக்கும் அவலம் இந்த நாட்டில் நிகழ்கிறது.

அயன் ராண்ட் தமது Atlas Shrugged நூலில் ஒரு சுவாரசியமான கற்பனையை முன்வைக்கிறார். திறமைசாலிகள், சாதனையாளர்கள், பெரும் கனவுகளைக் காண்பவர்கள் (dreamers of dreams) தங்கள் திறனும் ஊக்கமும் முடக்கப் படும் சூழலில், அதை எதிர்த்து வேலை நிறுத்தம் செய்தால் என்ன ஆகும் என்று. சாதனையாளர்களை நசுக்கும் தேசம் அவர்களால் புறக்கணிக்கப் பட்டு, பாழ்படும்.

நேற்று பிப்ரவரி-6 புதன் அன்று ஜபல்பூரில் அத்வானியின் முதல் பேரணி நடந்து முடிந்திருக்கிறது. பாராளுமன்ற தாக்குதல் குற்றவாளி அப்சலை ஏன் இன்னும் தூக்கில் போடவில்லை என்பது உள்ளிட்ட பல கேள்விகளோடு இந்தப் பிரசாரம் தொடங்கியிருக்கிறது. அத்வானியின் அனைத்துப் பேரணிகளும் சில தேதி மாற்றங்களுடன் முன்பு அறிவிக்கப் பட்ட படியே திட்டமிட்ட எல்லா இடங்களில் நடைபெறும் என்ற அறிவிப்பு இந்த இருளில் ஒரு ஒளிக்கீற்றாக வந்திருக்கிறது.

இதே போன்று சானியாவும் தன் முடிவை மாற்றிக் கொள்வாரா? சானியாவின் உரிமைகள் நிலைநாட்டப் படுவது இந்த சுதந்திர நாட்டின் முதன்மையான கடமை.

Hailing Indira killers as martyrs - Please, someone condemn SGPC

A highly condemnable, criminal and anti-national act by SGPC.

But it is evident that media is totally playing down on this news without giving adequate coverage. It appeared as a small news item in page 6 or 7 of Times of India today. BJP and the Hindutva groups are observing deathly silence. Congress is so numb to even dare a rebuttal - it probably does not want to antogonise Sikhs at this point, with Paaji Manmohan Singh at the helm.

Media deliberately and consciously avoids showing Sikh religious leadership in bad light even when it is involved in such an act.

Remember how media kept harping on the passing comment of another Vedanti, Mr. Ram Vilas Vedanti of Varanasi a few months ago? The one abt cutting Karunanidhi's toungue, as a punishment against TN CM's insult on Sri Rama. This was a simple intimidation by some lower rank individual in the VHP and the media trumpeted it as an example of "Hindu intolerance" for a long time, in spite of Vedanti retreating from it!

This act of SGPC, the highest body of Sikhs legmitises and sanctifies the killers of a former PM thru a religious ceremony, aimed at sowing the seeds of terrorism and separatism.

Super-appeasement of the Sikh fundamentalism by the media and all political parties, including the "anti-appeasement" BJP! This is a very, very dangerous precedent.

Please, someone condemn SGPC.

Taslima, Gujrat, freedom, secularists… and shame

When the Islamist cowards were buring Kolkata from the bylanes last week, crying for the expulsion of Taslima Nasreen, with the hapless Leflist government unable to control them, I had suggested that Gujrat, the Indian state that stands for growth, freedom and liberty should voluntarily welcome her and offer her residence and protection. I had requested some of my friends in the BJP to take this suggestion to Narendra Modi, Gujrat CM.

With the news of central government lodging the Bengali writer in “undisclosed locations” and the shocking rumors of the government asking her to leave the country trickling in, Narendra Modi has welcomed her to Gujrat in a public meeting yesterday, in his first election meeting. I am only too happy to know this.

Kudos to him. Modi, you have made India proud. You have made us feel that we are indeed the land of the free and home of the brave.

"If the Centre lacks the courage to give security to her, then I have the courage. Send Taslima to Gujarat. The youngsters of Gujarat are keen to provide security to her."

"Bangladeshis are staying in lanes and bylanes of this country but no one is ready to evacuate them. Taslima, who is a writer exercising freedom of expression, is being harassed by fundamentalists."

.. She is a woman who is fighting for the truth. By giving her protection, the government should have set an example of the glorious tradition of India."

Well said, Narendra bhai. Taslima, the writer not only stands for staunch feminism, free thinking and her bold statements against Islamic fundamentalists in literary prose, but also for daring to expose the untold atrocities against Hindu minorities by the Muslim fundamentalists of Bangladesh, the fundamentalists in the government, politics and society. In that sense, she is also a brave champion of Hindu human rights.

The Leftists and the pseudo secularists of this nation stand exposed in their ugly nakedness, when they surrender the spirit of freedom and liberty to the bullying of law breaking Muslim mobs and rowdyism. What a shame! The shame is manifold than Taslima’s anguish in ‘Lajja’ when Niranjan’s family helplessly moves out of Bangladesh into India.

A hundred years ago, Sri Aurobindo wrote,

"The idea that by encouraging Mohmmedan rowdyism, the present agitation may be put down, is preposterous; and those who cherish this notion forget that the bully is neither the strongest nor the bravest of men; and that because the self-restraint of the Hindu, miscalled cowardice, has been a prominent feature of his national character, he is absolutely incapable of striking straight and striking hard when any sacred situation demands this."

Has anything changed? Same rowdyism. Same reaction from the spineless secularists.

What really has Taslima done to derive such anger from Muslims? She has not written anything offensive or insulting against that holy camel of Islamists, their Prophet or their holy Q Book. She has even spoken against stereotyping of Islamic scriptures as anti-women, calling for reinterpretation of Quran verses.

It was her courage to expose the institutionalized Islamic cruelty against Hindus in Bangladesh that earned her fatwas that demanded her head. This very expose was labeled as “anti-Islamic stand”. And the likes of her heart-rendering account of chilling acts of Islamic cruelty in “The Bangla Crescent” (A docu film by Mayank Jain) - “12 year old Gauri was raped in front of her mother, and then the mother was raped in front of Gauri, again and again..”

So, what are *Indian Muslims* protesting against her for?? That, she exposed the true face of an Islamic society and government in dealing with the minorities, in *Bangladesh*? And what are the political parties in India supporting these zealots' demands for?

Sitaram Yechury has accused BJP of “double standards” in the cases of Taslima and MF Husain. The nasuating debates about “freedom of expression” applied to both cases makes one puke. This, after Taslima herself quoting Husain’s safety and well being as a counter example against what is happening in her case!

Husain depicted the images of Hindu Gods and Goddesses in nude and sexually perverted ways that will quality as offensive in the eyes of any neutral observer. He justified this in the name of Artistic freedom (which, I think is subtly different from “freedom of speech” that relates to facts and realities of life, not just art)… and here too he was not honest, as he depicted Islamic women in a fully clothed and “dignified” manner. When questioned about this, he chose to mock at the criticism and refused to accept his hurting of Hindu sentiments.

But for one small scale attack on one of Husain’s studios, all that the Hindu activists (and numerous simple Hindu individuals, not connected to any groups) have done is to file cases against him in various courts in India. And the courts have admitted all these cases, as they are credible under various sections of Indian laws. In what better dignified manner can civilized people register their protest in a democratic nation?

But the “brave” Husain, anticipating long drawn legal battles where his “artistic freedom” will be scrutinized, does not want to return to India from UK. He makes long faces in public and laments about the “treatment” meted out to an Artist of his caliber in his homeland. And our secularist friends want Hindus to *withdraw* all the cases *voluntarily* so that the offending artist is spared from the legal proceedings, unconditionally. The never-hesitating-to-bow-to-Muslim-mobs secularist friends!

What an unbiased, neutral and impeccably honest secularist yardstick !

Now pray, tell me, who has “double standards” here? The Hindu activists or the secular brigade? Who should hang their heads in shame?

தீவிரவாத குற்றவாளிக்கு பரிந்து பேசும் இந்திய அரசு: வெட்கக்கேடு!

Dear Editor,

There are news reports that “Stepping up pressure on Australia over Mohammad Haneef issue, India on Tuesday summoned its ambassador in New Delhi to convey its concern and emphasize that the doctor from Bangalore be treated in a fair manner”. This, a day after Indian government made an extra ordinary request to Australia to treat Dr. Haneef fairly.

Has the Indian govt. ever cared to summon the ambassadors of Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries, where many Indian citizens are the victims of extreme brutality and torture from their employers, apart from non-payment of wages? Has the Indian govt. ever expressed its concern for the Indian women victims who get sexually abused in these Gulf countries, often by the men who employ them?

Ah! What an exemplary and overt gesture of solidarity overflowing from Indian government officials and the prime minister himself for *one* Mohammed Haneef accused of criminal conspiracy in the UK terror plot! For a Haneef, merely detained for questioning in Australia, neither harassed or insulted, but treated in the best possible manner, certainly under conditions much better than Indian police lockups. Can the craving for a couple of Muslim votes bring a PM and his political bosses stoop to such abominable levels?

Today’s Times of India has dedicated one full page interview of Haneef’s wife with her emotional outbursts. Did this newspaper publish even a quarter page report of the travails of the family of Suryanarayana, the Engineer from Hyderabad who was brutally beheaded after torture by the Jihadi gangs of Afghanistan in April 2006, when he was posted in that country on Indian government service? Does anyone remember this newspaper publishing a one-page interview of a widow of a Kargil war hero?

What do the Indian govt. and the media want to convey to the citizens of India, Indian expatriates and the world at large?
That, they will turn a blind eye to the sufferings of innocent Indian expatriates, hardworking and law abiding in their countries of residence, but will empathize totally with the expatriates getting arrested for questionable and unlawful activities and Jihadi terrorism, bringing disgrace to the nation?
That Indian government welcomes and nurtures Jihadi terrorists and is deeply concerned about their fair treatment and well being?
That India is ready to be a sanctuary for the Jihadi murderers who will stage bomb blasts in India, killing Indian citizens to rehearse for bigger International operations?

Shame on such a government, Shame on such a media.
